As farmers out at Spring Ridge continue a blockade to stop the further work of coal seam gas companies in the region, the National Party has released a blueprint for managing the industry.
The party says coal seam gas could benefit parts of regional Australia but believes it could be an environmental disaster if it's poorly managed.
Under the framework coal seam gas wouldn't be allowed in areas where it posed a significant risk to water quality or the viability of prime agricultural land.
The Nationals plan to release a discussion paper exploring how the blueprint can be implemented.
